The Kings Fleeting Crown - 1

I love water drops, and I have a large assortment of photos to prove it. But I never tire of capturing that brief moment when physics creates beauty, something we often don't see happening, because it is such a fast and fleeting event. So I plan on highlighting that beauty for a bit if everyone doesn't mind, with 2 new series on water.

This first set is on one of my favorite parts of a water drop, one that I usually don't capture, the splash created by the drop initially hitting the water. To accentuate this one tiny part of a whole sequence of moves, I used a very shallow dish with just a tiny amount of water in it. This would increase the splash, but decrease the following bounce back in the air the drop does. Each of this photos is of a different drop hitting, and changes in look just a bit. Each photo is also edited in a different style that I have used over the years. So its not just a look at the splash made by water drops, but also the styles I have used over the years.

This first photo was the first during this little session I captured. The lighting wasn't perfect, nor was the focus. But the look of the upper part of the splash, and the glass like effect of the base kept me from trashing it. The photo is done using the old way I used to handle black and white photos, pushing the contrast as high as I can, and the sharpness up as well.
