Growing In The Runoff

Description

So I decided one day randomly to just go for a walk with my camera; no destination in mind, just set out with the camera and all my gear, and walk around town taking photos. I ended up walking for about 3 hours, and around a good 3 miles in total. I loved every minute of it and took some great photos from right in my own backyard.

This first was on the road leading away from my house, a nice little bit of grass or some kind of plant or tree growing its way out of the street, right where some dirt and rock are piled up from the nearby drain spilling water back out onto the road (as the drainage ditch that drain leads to tends to flood if it even sprinkles). I thought it was such a beautiful stark contrast to the black dirt, rock, and road around it.

This was one of those times I was seriously happy to have live view, so I didn't have to lay down on an active road near rush hour. I was able to use the screen to compose and focus my shot. I also did the whole selective color thing I have been trying out recently on this one, dropping the saturation on everything except for the green tones. Unlike the others though, I did leave in some of the other colors so the shot doesn't look black and white, just desaturated everywhere except the plant.
