From The Ashes

Ahh Roses, I honestly can't think of how many photos I have taken of them, but I do know its been quite a few. But oddly enough, one thing that I haven't done is really use them to show a concept, or shoot them in a more studio set up. So for what I hope is one of my last sets of rose photos (yeah right...) I came up with a nice little idea.

My mom has two rose bushes that grow at our house; one yellow rose bush that grows out front, and one red one in the back. She likes to often snip off roses from both, and put them in the house. She had a red one that was starting to lose its petals, and a yellow one that was just starting to bloom. So it popped into my head to do the transition. The red rose dying, the yellow coming alive around the red, and the yellow fully blossoming. And I even love how I came up with the names, its not just one name with a 1, 2, and 3 added to the end :P

The first is "From The Ashes" and shows the final moments of the red rose, surrounded by its own petals. I loved the interesting close up view of the insides of a rose, that we often see covered by the far more coveted rose petals. This was taken inside with a rare studiesque setup from myself. And other than a few levels and slight color balance, this is a fairly unedited photo, its just how it came off the camera pretty much.

Enjoy :D

I really like this. Great focus, nice composition, it's subtle yet interesting and the color is lovely.
