Chocolate

Its funny what you will try and put in front of your camera when playing with something new. The night that I first started playing with my Reverse Macro Coupler, I was seriously just going from place to place in my house looking for things to shove in front of the lens. This one was a bit of a pain, as it tried to melt as I took the photos, mainly from the lights that let me see what I was doing.

In case you hadn't guessed, what you are looking at is freezer burn, or really just frost, on top of some chocolate ice cream. I think it was Blue Bell (the best ice cream of course). And yes, it is a very shallow depth of field, but I now know how easy it is to force my lens to stay at a certain aperture, so the next round of macro shots should have more visible detail.

Enjoy :D

I love the contrast between the warm and cold colours and how they divide the frame. The picture looks crisp and the frost looks positively sharp! Some of the out of focus ice in the foreground can be a bit distracting but it doesn't detract from the shot.

I love the flow of the ice and how it seems to rise up in waves, this movement seems to draw the eye along with it which is really nice. I sometimes find framing macro shots can be difficult - i find myself wrestling to find the balance between really nice composition and getting in the up-close fine detail we want from a macro shot. Its a really cool macro-shot and it gets 2 big thumbs up!
